I seriously can't stop taking pictures of all the flowers in New York! Our soon-to-be-married friends Jen and Pat stumbled upon an amazing tulip garden before our brunch on Saturday and told us we had to go. Of course, we obliged as we know these colorful beauties will only be around a little bit longer. After making sure I documented every flower in the garden we explored the city by foot and made our way to Washington Square Park for some amazing people watching. We saw a comedy show, a tap dance routine, and a guy that played banjo all during our walk through the park. I've said it once and I'll say it again, we love New York!
I haven't found myself longing for open space as much as I expected, but we gravitated towards the river on Sunday. We walked a total of 6 miles around the city and thoroughly explored the edges of our new home. It felt so good to get fresh(er) air and to see unobstructed sky. I think we'll be finding ourselves there often.
We found ourselves down in the West Village on Friday night, spring was in the air, and we dined at a new-to-us restaurant called August. Aaron says he had the best meal since we've been in the city, and we ended the night with a popsicle at Popbar. New York, you've been so good to us!
I've been happily using my free time to explore the city before starting my new job on Monday (more on that later!) and today my destination was the Chelsea Market and pizza in the West Village. On my way I stopped in a little part of town called the flower district. You can buy flowers at wholesale prices, it's amazing! Although I didn't buy any, I realized upon returning home that the only thing I'd taken pictures of all day was flowers. Of course, they were all too pretty not to share. Enjoy!
