Let's be honest, we spent most of the day at the J.Crew outlet adding to our spring wardrobes, but my family did humor me for a few beach pictures. We may be squinting in most of them, but I'm so glad to have documented the togetherness.

A Gray Day in our Hood.
It's been so gray this weekend, but I'd like to think it's because spring is on the way. I'm noticing the beginning of buds on trees, and I'm confident that the gray and rain means spring is around the corner. Despite the weather, we took a stroll around our neighborhood this morning, brunched at a local favorite, and bought a pair of antler candlesticks at the flea market. I'm trying to soak in as much as I can before we leave since I know there will be so much I miss about this place.
(our first little home. Don't be fooled... we live in the basement.)

We're Moving to New York City!
So... big news over here! I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it, but during the first week of April we're packing up our little lives and we're moving our family of two! After months and months of interviews, Aaron was offered a wonderful opportunity in the city, and we're going for it! We are childless and young and it's an adventure we want go on! I'm certain there will be a ton of adjustments/challenges/etc, but at least we've already mastered the living in less than 500 sqaure feet thing (thanks, DC apartment).
There have already been some tears, of course, because we're absolutely heartbroken to leave our families and friends in DC. Both of our families are here, and it's where we've found comfort and so many close friends. It really feels like we just got settled here, but I'm sure we'll adjust to all things Manhattan very soon. I'm both excited and nervous for this transition, as I can't really imagine what day to day life will be like there. It's going to be an adventure while finding out, though!
We already have an apartment lined up for our first few months in Manhattan (on the Upper West Side), and I plan on making it my mission to find something more permanent. I'll also be job searching, picture taking, and back in Maryland almost every other week with weddings to shoot and other events. I plan on getting better at using the phone, and will updating this blog way more often.
With all that said, we're excited/scared/happy/sad/anxious for the next few weeks, but our plan is to make all of our DC moments count with eating at our favorite restaurants with our favorite friends. We're both looking forward to the many ways we'll need to trust God with this transition, and are so confident that His provision will be perfect.
And you are also receiving a formal invitation to come visit us! You will have a lovely IKEA sofa to sleep on, and maybe an air mattress someday, too.

2 years.
Two years ago, on March 11th, Aaron and I went on our first date! We were talking about it this morning as we drove to work, and we both commented on how effortless it was. Neither of us felt like we needed to think about things to say, we just talked and laughed for hours. I went to bed that night and couldn't sleep, I was giddy and so sure I had just gone on my last first date. Turns out, I was right ;) I love you, Aaron!
(one of our first pictures together, and also the day we said "I love you" the first time!)

An Afternoon on the Hill.
My family came to Capitol Hill this afternoon for lunch and a stroll around our neighborhood. I think spring has begun to show it's pretty little face, and I am oh-so-happy about it. More than that, I was so glad to have an afternoon with the people I love the most. I hope your weekend was beautiful, too!

Weekend Wrap-Up.
It's been a little silent around these parts, am I right? Turns out there is way more to blog about when your on vacation and have 8 straight days off of work. I also think it's getting to the point in winter where the days feel extra cold and I'm more inclined to take a nap in my spare time than do anything outside.
As for the weekend, I went to DryBar with several girls from my small group to celebrate Alysa's birthday on Friday. I was totally skeptical as I don't really like the way other people do my hair, but it was so much fun and I loved the way my hair turned out. Basically, you pay $40 to have your hair washed, dried, and styled - along with plenty of champagne and girl-bonding time. I am already looking for another excuse to go!
The rest of my weekend was spent photographing a wedding (for a bride whose photographer quit two weeks before! Can you imagine?), and photographing an engagement shoot at the Lincoln Memorial. Both days were freezing, but I'm excited about the pictures. I hope your weekend was good, too!
